How To Create A Productive Work Space
Friday, June 4th, 2010If you find yourself slacking too often, or feeling less and less inspired, check the pulse of the environment you are in. Your surroundings may very well have an important impact on how you are feeling. Both your productivity and creativity levels are affected by what is going on around you. If you want to turn things around and get back to your motivated and productive self, read on for more information.
These tips can go for both your work and living areas because when you are at peace with your environment, this is when you will be most comfortable. When you’re comfortable you’ll likely be less stressed or worried. This will help you have better relationships with the people around you.
A productive and soothing area has to be clean. Dust, dirt and grim only will leave you feeling overwhelmed and disheveled (no wonder why you can’t get any work done!). When you are distracted with how messy an area is, you will lose focus. If you are pregant, this is doubly important. You need a clean space in order to stay relaxed.
Get organized. When you need something, you should be able to find it without rummaging for it for hours. Not being able to find the things you need leads to frustration. So, if you want to focus on your work, only leave the items that you need in your work space. This means taking out any diamondback bikes and putting them in the garage!
Stay away from the boring color of white as your paint option. White increases levels of stress and depression. Instead, opt for warmer tones. Choosing a different color, beyond white, will help bring out the color of your furniture, drapes and other accessories.
Good, natural lighting is important. When you have enough natural light, this will help bring up your spirits and help you get productive. However, keep in mind that too much light will have the opposite effect. Dim light will also impact the way you get things done. Find the right balance between too dark and too light. When pregnant, seek out natural light to help your mood as well.
Bring things in your space that remind you of happy times. Pictures and other momentous that remind you of the people and places you love can lift your spirits and encourage productivity. Doing this will help induce a positive energy into your work space.
