It is developed by 4A Games and will be released March 16 and March 18 2010 in North America & Europe for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows platforms. Metro 2033 is an action-oriented video game with a combination of horror, survival, RPG, and shooting. The game is based on the popular Eastern European cult novel Metro 2033 from Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky. In 2006, when the game was announced, it used to have the subtitle “The Last Refuge” but the publisher THQ removed it. Metro 2033 journeys out of the post-apocalyptic metro system in search of what lies in wait into the frosty wastes of the unknown. Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, it is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands. 4A Games was founded by people who split off from GSC Game World a year before the the release of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, in particular Oles’ Shiskovtsov and Aleksandr Maksimchuk, the programmers who worked on the development of X-ray engine used in the STALKER series. The game will utilize original multiplatform 4A Engine with nvidia physx support.
