Published: August 23, 2010 from Barkley32002 Noticing a Magnitude-8.0 Earthquake Months Later Noticing a Magnitude-8.0 Earthquake Months Later To the amazement of seismologists, they missed a magnitude-8.0 earthquake last year. “It is sort of shocking,” said Thorne Lay, a professor of earth and planetary sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz, who led a team that uncovered the seismic fingerprints months later. “If we hadn’t done the careful analysis, we would have missed it.” Magnitude-8 earthquakes are known as great earthquakes for their ferocious destructive power, and networks of seismometers can pinpoint much smaller earthquakes. In this case, however, the great earthquake was hidden by a greater quake. The greater earthquake, of magnitude 8.1, struck Sept. 29, 2009, off the Samoa Islands in the Pacific. That in itself was a surprise to seismologists, because there have not been any known magnitude-8 earthquakes around the Tonga trench, where the Pacific plate slips beneath the Australian plate, leading seismologists to believe that the fault there is well lubricated and does not build up enough stress to generate great earthquakes. Still, the two tectonic plates are speeding toward each other there faster than anywhere else in the world, some 10 inches a year. The resulting tsunami, which swept into Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga, killing more than 100 people, also puzzled scientists. The magnitude-8.1 earthquake did not occur at the plate boundary …
Throbbing bassline over a herky-jerky post punk gem from Italy. Accompanying images of machinery, mad women and extreme weather from disparate sources (Grindhouse, James Burke’s Connections and an 80s educational show about weather measurement)…….. The final sequence are some still photographs (taken by myself) of the many chemtrail scars that appeared over London in the summer of 2008.
First update on the 8.8 magnitude massive Earthquake off the shore of Chile on 26.02.2010, including live reports and expert information both on the impact and the tsunami warnings in response to the event. Recorded from BBC World News on 26-27.02.2010 The quake struck at 0634 GMT (3:34 am local time) about 90km (56 miles) north-east of the city of Concepcion and about 320km south-west of the capital, Santiago. Buildings in Santiago were reported to have shaken for between about 30 seconds, with the loss of electricity and communications following. The death-toll remains unclear but is confirmed to count at least 122 victims. Easter Island is beeing evacuated as a precautionary measure in expectation of a possible tsunami. The US issued an initial tsunami warning for Chile, Peru and Ecuador, which was later extended to Colombia, Antarctica, Panama, Costa Rica and then as far as New Zealand and Hawaii.

Ninety oil workers have been evacuated from a North Sea rig as engineers fight to control a huge build up of pressure in a well which critics say has the potential to blow-up the platform and cause a major environmental problem. The hole will continue to increase in size allowing more and more oil to rise into the Gulf. After several billion barrels of oil have been released, the pressure within the massive cavity five miles beneath the ocean floor will begin to normalize. This will allow the water, under the intense pressure at 1 mile deep, to be forced into the hole and the cavity where the oil was. The temperature at that depth is near 400 degrees, possibly more. The water will be vaporized and turned into steam, creating an enormous amount of force, lifting the Gulf floor. It is difficult to know how much water will go down to the core and therefore, its not possible to fully calculate the rise of the floor. concen US Senate votes YES, the ‘People’ have to pay for oil …
