Survival of the Dead Official HD Trailer

Monday, April 12th, 2010

www.magnetreleasing.com Immediately following the events of “Diary of the Dead,” “Survival of the Dead,” is the 6th film from George A. Romero to look at a world where humans are in the minority and the zombies rule. Off the coast of Delaware sits the cozy Plum Island where two families are locked in a struggle for power, as it has been for generations. The O’Flynn’s, headed by patriarch Patrick O’Flynn (Kenneth Welsh) approach the zombie plague with a shoot-to-kill attitude. The Muldoons, headedby Shamus Muldoon (Richard Fitzpatrick), feel that the zombies should be quarantined and kept ‘alive,’ in hopes that a solution will someday be found. The O’Flynn’s, who are clearly outnumbered, are forced to exile Patrick by boat to the mainland, where he meets up with a cynical band of soldiers, headed by Guardsman Sarge (Alan Van Sprang). They join forces and return to the island, to find that the zombie plague has fully gripped the divided community, and the body count is rising. As the battle between humans and zombies escalates, the master filmmaker continues to reinvent the modern horror genre with wicked humor and pointed social commentary.

Featured Title for Moonrise Filmfest 2008 International and local scientists have confirmed the fact that the earth’s climate has been changing. The signs are undeniable: global warming, sea-level rise, coral bleaching, extreme weather events, threats to food and water security, and the resurgence of tropical diseases, among others. The scientific consensus is that the world has been getting warmer in recent decades due mainly to rising levels of greenhouse gas emissions caused by man-made vehicles, power plants, factories, waste and deforestation. The bad news is that the Philippines, as an archipelago and a developing nation, is highly vulnerable to the impact of climate change. Its low-lying areas face greater risk of flooding; typhoon-prone localities must brace themselves for stronger storms; farmers might have to deal with more frequent droughts and overly wet weather; fishermen might be up against diminishing fish catch; poor communities would need extra protection against potential food and water crises, diseases like dengue and malaria, and the bigger threat of devastation from nature’s fury. The good news is that it is not too late to do something. In fact, some local governments and communities are showing that it is possible to anticipate and to prepare systematically for the onset of extreme weather events. Their massive efforts, combined with external financial and technological support, can be developed into climate change adaptation models that can be
