Some Good Advice About Exercise Regimens

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

Everyone can use some good advice about their exercise regimes. The first thing is that you should learn how to enjoy exercising, because if you don’t, you will most likely stop. Obviously, physical activity is a very important part of healthy living. So if you want to live a long and healthy life, you will have to get active.

For many people, they just aren’t motivated enough. So, doing it on their own simply doesn’t happen. If you are such a person, then a look at hiring a personal trainer. Yes, their services can be costly. However, you will not keep them there for ever. In fact, you can hire them for a given time, enough that will give you the guidance you need to help you attain the goals you have set.

They can work wonders for anyone who has the slightest wish to get fit. What’s good about them is that they’re always there to push you forward and keep you going. They keep the momentum going which is something that many of us lose soon after we decide to exercise.

But, if you keep them there long enough, working side-by-side with you, you will see that your exercise routine will become a regular part of your life, like second nature. It will be something that you can’t live with because you have become so used to it. In fact, not exercising will feel as though you’re missing something in your life.

Having said that, it’s important to spruce up your routines to keep you excited and keep you going. To do so, you can get on your diamondback bikes and head out. Not only will it give you a change, you’ll also get some fresh care and enjoy the surroundings.

If you like a good workout, then the Schwinn mountain bike can give you that. Head out to the mountains where you can really work up a sweat. This way, you’ll enjoy the outdoors but in a way that nature intended, surrounded by majestic trees that provide both shade and cooler temperatures. Like this, you’re protected from excessive heat and UV rays.

No matter how serious you are about working out, it’s important that you look at how good bikes can be. And this is true regardless of your age. They are the twist that should always be in every workout routine because they give an excellent workout, for one. Another reason is because you can be outdoors, instead of always looking at the same equipment in the same room of your local gym.

About The Evolution Of Mountain Bikes

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

It’s obvious from the name that the mountain bike was designed for riding on mountain slopes. The guys who invented them rode around on ordinary bikes, but wanted to take them offroad. Since there were no Diamondback bikes around, they had to invent the MB themselves. They didn’t have many tools to work with, but they had a lot of imagination and determination.

They started with pretty standard bikes. Road and racing bikes were no good because of their skinny tires. Mountain bikes need fat tires for traction. Racing bikes are made purely for speed. The skinny tires are there to create as little drag as possible, but they have lousy traction.

They did, however, take the derailleurs off their racing bikes and make them work on their fat tired bikes. They came up with a hybrid that had both fat tires and a large range of gears. The first ones were strange looking bikes, indeed.

The upright handlebars of street bikes were no good for their new bikes. They started off by sticking straight steel bars on their bikes. Later, they added perpendicular pieces of steel to the ends, so they could pull back on the handlebars when they were climbing up steep hills.

Once they had the basic design down, these young entrepreneurs started building bikes from scratch. They began using lighter weight materials and adding refinements to the frame design. Before long, people who saw them riding around on these cool looking bikes started asking them to build one for them.

The first mountain bikes were all made by small, backyard bicycle mechanics. Only later did the Schwinn mountain bike and others by the established bike manufacturers hit the market. Interestingly, some of the biggest names in MBs are still made by those guys who started out with nothing.

All that remained to be invented was a helmet that was both cool looking and functional. A black helmet made for playing football just wasn’t right for blazing down single track mountain trails. Helmet designers went to work and now there are dozens of lightweight helmets that look good and do their job as well.

If anybody thought that the mountain bike was just a fad before, nobody does today. They continue to dominate the market and people ride them on the road even more than off the road. With all the improvements that the big parts manufacturers have come up with, you can now get a bike with 24 gears and disc brakes.

It would be a big stretch to say that the MB is as important invention as the PC. Nevertheless, the two share similar histories. Both of them came from the minds of young enthusiasts with little money, but big ideas. They both say a lot about the power of ideas and determination.

Finding Fitness In The Great Outdoors

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

If you want to feel fit and fantastic, you simply can’t beat the great outdoors. While it’s true that going to the gym is great for things like general physical fitness and muscle growth, many people get bored with gyms. They just feel there’s nothing natural about a gym workout and lose their motivation. That’s not the case, though, with outdoor fitness activities.

Even if you’re not one of the lucky ones who lives near a national park or even a large city park, you can still find time for the outdoors. You don’t have to wait until your vacation comes and you can escape to the wilderness. However you can do it, make sure you can get outdoors regularly.

One way that city dwellers and suburbanites can enjoy the feeling of being outdoors is on a bicycle. There’s a great feeling of exhilaration racing down a hill after the challenge of a steep hill climb, whether it’s on a backwoods trail or a back street in the city. A Schwinn mountain bike or other MB, often has 24 gears and disc brakes, making it possible to climb the steepest hill or stop on a dime.

Of course, there are dangers associated with riding mountain bikes, both in the city and in the country. In the city, you always have to watch for traffic. It would be mad not to wear a helmet while riding a bike of any description in the city.

Head injuries are the cause of most bicycle fatalities, so don’t even think about not wearing a helmet. Choose a black helmet or any other color you like. Just wear a helmet.

That’s as true for offroad as it is on the city streets. If you fall off a mountain bike at any speed, you can get a serious or even fatal head injury if you’re not wearing a helmet. If you’ve got a helmet, though, you can ride your mountain bike with abandon, knowing your head is safe.

If for some reason mountain biking leaves you cold, try hiking or rock climbing. For these activities, you need to focus more on your feet than your head. If you’re a hiker, invest in a pair of good boots with soles that are designed for mountainous terrain. If you’re going to go rock climbing, you’ll need special rockclimbing shoes that fit tightly and can grip tiny nubbins of rock on steep cliffs without slipping off.

For all around physical, mental and even emotional health, get outdoors. Don’t let anything stop you. You’ll love it.
