You’re in Cairns. You’ve spent all your cash doing a dive trip or at the swim up bar. More travel funds won’t fall from the sky so you will want some free things to do for the remainder of your holiday in Cairns.

1. Spend a few hours in the man madeLagoon, no unwanted crocs, no sharks, none of those stingers, only cool sparkling water and hot bodies.

2. Dip at Crystal Cascades. Rockpool after rockpool, waterfall after waterfall. Beautiful rainforest location.

3. Stroll the Red Arrow walking for amazing views of Cairns. Or run, thats what some crazy Cairns people do. If it’s currently summer, you might want to doing this one later in the day.

4. Swim and a beer at Lake Placid. The swims free, the drinks are pretty cheap. The atmosphere is priceless. The whitewater rafting tours complete their trips here. Maybe spend a couple of $$$ you can rent a canoe and have a look at the Barron River rapids.

5. Boat down the Mulgrave river from Ross & Locke reserve to Gordonvale. If you haven’t got a boat blow up an innertube.

6. Watch the reef trips come back in at the Marina. And play pick the most sunburnt tourist.

7. Go for a Wednesday twilight sail at the Yacht Club. If they need crew, it’s free.

8. Stroll along Holloways Beach to Yorkeys Knob. Its even better with a partner.

9. Climb Walsh’s Pyramid for breathless andspectacular scenery. It’s incredibly steep  and long, but it’s worth it.

10.Hike up the Barron Gorge, and see the Barron waterfalls from the other side, and watch the tourists at the top trying to work out how to get where you are.

I hope this list helps you entertain yourself if you find yourself out of money in Cairns, or maybe it even made you think of coming to Cairns.
