PART 3 of 5: A complete series of videos by Nutnfancy and my friend chronicling firemaking in cold and snowy conditions using backpacking equipment only. The series shows the scenery, adventure, survival philosophy, gear observations, our standard joking around, and the good times with long time friend BuggetNuster (YouTube name) and Allie the Mountain Dog. We hiked into the snowy and cold Rocky Mountain bivouac location I had chosen earlier for my Wilderness Lean-To series of videos. A few …

the difference in weight between the small hatchets and for example the fiskars chopping ax is not that much because the handle is light weight. if you know what your doing axes are so easy to use.

im glad you have sence enough to use a hatchet though

If you can, put the wood on a harder surface or even the stump you took the wood from.

    You’re an idiot.

  9. SheffeyStudios says:

axes are generally just too heavy to carry. i think that a better tool to cut wood with is a hatchet. it works very well for me and i still dont have to use a knife.

i think the great thing about nutnfancys reviews are that he shows us the mistakes he makes so that we dont have to make that same mistake when we find ourselves in a similar situation

  11. Spartanwarrioromega says:

lol at the end when he’s like “MAMA…good”

  12. sgtSqeegee119 says:

your an idiot for spelling like a 6 year old

  13. MatosUpNorth says:

Saws & knives vs. axes. Saws waste less wood when cutting. But saws take a lot of energy. Saw blades do break. A quality survival axe won’t break and doesn’t require wd40. Save your knife for processing food and making tools. Get a good survival axe and save yourself some weight, time, and headache. Gerber makes a great one. Split wood with a knife if you must, but you don’t need to with the proper tools.

How are they racist for not having any black people in their videos? There aren’t a lot of people in the videos to start with. Do you always accuse two people of the same race to be racist when they are hanging out together? Do you expect him to go out and recruit at least one friend of every race? I’m sure geographical distribution has largely to do with it.

  20. Jhazmoth says:

Weight son….weight. A small hatchet weighs a good 2-4lbs or more, those knives weight a fraction of it and take up half to 1/2rd of the space.

  21. lmglange says:

make wood wedges – much easier when splitting knotty logs

  22. NiftyVT says:

lol only two good friends would fist bump in celebration for breaking a long in half =) (about 7:45 in) I have done in and if you have ever done anything out in the middle of nowhere you will know what I am talking about. =)

  25. malro67 says:

This isnt some politically correct affirmative action bullshit television show governed by the politics of the liberal media. tell me…how on earth does this man and his friend going out in the woods and making a fire imply racism to any degree? please explain.
