you can use the yarn, a bow shaped stick softwood drill and hardwood notch, and there’s your firelighting kit you can also use cigarette filters and fire + stones to make a very sharp fibreglass knife, even still, plane crash wreckage could be used as a blade
@AlyandAJxx you are totally right just my thoughts too. When you are in a plane crash or similar situations you dont have all that necessaries to survive, so you just have to know what you can find in the nature, none of the survivor programme is showing that. And some common things you normal use, you dont have in the jungle in a survivor situation so you need to have a good fantasy. What would you do if you suddenly have diarrhoea or some banality like that. What would you do without a knife?
@AlyandAJxx Planes usually have a basic survival kit aboard and if by badluck you were unable to use it, you could always use scrapped metal from the wreck as a substitute to a knife.
Alyand, you’re so silly. How do you know it will be a plane crash? If not, where’s your knife and fire making kit? Your weird perspective on life is really what is annoying. Pay attention, and you might learn something useful, you little dimwit.
Survival programmes ike this; they’re quite useful but when we’re in a plane crash we wont have a machete, or any type of knife, or a backpack (well we might) or a fire making kit!!! Its sooo annoying! x lol
True, anyone that enters a “wilderness” enviorment without takeing basic supplies (knife, rope, cell phone, ect) deserves what they get. But a plane crash or shipwreak could drop you into a place like this with nothing but the clothes on your back.
Why do these survival guys always have a big survival knife or thick machete? Most people who find themselves in this type of situation will be lucky to have a 3inch folder in their pocket.
They should do some episodes on how to make good cutting tools out of bone, rock and other natural materials. Because without the ability to cut most of what they teach is worthless.
So! We get a machete on the plane – and as flintstone9812 states that is impossible – and wear a hair net? Then survival is a matter of just avoiding pit-vipers? Easy! Put a lump of steel a hammer and anvil in your essentials. That way you can make a machete when you crash.
For protein pack beef jerky or, what ever that dried salted raw meat is called. You can get at least 2kg in your bag in a small space, then you can eat for 2wks at least. Don’t forget teabags and a pot to boil stuff in.
Even better Alimantado91, would be if the homeless people learnt Ray’s skills and buggered off into the wild, instead of sitting on the streets sniffing glue and abusing passers-by!
well if you know whear you are and how far a city is or you know close i would try to find it dont over do it if it under 100miel try finding the place over 100 id stay and gather some things then try to find it and set up a serries of camps
The knowledge of shelter building and acquisition of food is absolutely necessary to survival. It could happen to you as the result of a plane crash or vehicle breakdown.
And god only knows where you will be.
Sad that now you can’t carry a good survival knife with you on a plane. Just hope the hell you can get to your checked luggage and find one.
Actually your right becuse the golden rule of survival is stay whare you are. But sometime help doesnt come and if you dont try find civilization you will die.

If this guy goes on holiday and plane crashes or shipwrecks on a desert island, he won’t last a day without a machete!

if you wander into the rain forest without a machete then nobody can help you, not even ray mears.

So, you’re going to run your ass off hundreds of miles to civilization like bear grylls? I don’t think so.
But what if you are hundred miles from civilization and help doesnt come?
