After you are done washing soak it in salt water and vinegar and then hang it on the rod and leave it to dry from there. The salt water and the vinegar will prevent the formation of mildew and moulds.
You can use some of the sprays that are now available for use on shower curtains. The sprays serve the same function as the salt water and vinegar solution. Remember to always wash down any soap foams that fall on the shower curtain; they are the ones that usually become moldy.
